‘How Sweet The Sound’ Is The Gospel Truth

CeCe Winans, Donald Lawrence and Marvin Sapp are gospel heavyweights anchoring this year’s competition.

Giving church choirs chances to celebrate their passion as well as opportunities to win up to $50,000, Verizon’s How Sweet The Sound will feature Winans along with Grammy Award winning artist/songwriter/producer Lawrence hosting the tour. Resident judge Sapp will sit on a panel that also includes Mary Mary, Dorinda Clark Cole, Fred Hammond, Richard Smallwood, James Fortune, Byron Cage, Ricky Dillard, Shirley Caesar and more.

“It is an honor to return as resident judge for this joyous event that honors the foundation of our community – the church choir,” Sapp said in a statement. “How Sweet The Sound has become a second family for me, and I can’t wait to see our family grow in 2011.”

Playing arenas, the tour begins in Dallas at the American Airlines Center Sept. 15. Other stops include Atlanta (Sept. 17), Washington, D.C. (Sept. 21); Detroit (Sept. 24); St. Louis (Sept. 26); Chicago (Sept. 27); Los Angeles (Oct. 1) and Oakland, Calif. (Oct. 4).
