Down To The Sea With Kid Rock

With already two voyages under his belt, Kid Rock returns for another ocean cruise in 2012.

Presented by music-cruise folks Sixthman, the third annual departs Miami onboard the Carnival Destiny April 26 for the privately held Bahamas island Half Moon Cay, returning April 26. Adapting the moniker “Rock’s Reef” the island will host two days of rock on the beach featuring The Kid and his friends.

And just who are Rock’s friends this time around? That hasn’t been revealed but the 2011 voyage featured performances by Rev Run, Gretchen Wilson, John Stone, Ty Stone and The Howling Diablos, to drop a few names.

In June, Sixthman founder Andy Levine talked with Pollstar about his company’s ocean cruises, saying Rock “brings 14 other bands with him that he likes.” In other words, it’s a party with The Kid leading the way.

But don’t expect a mere rerun of 2011. Sixthman analyzed more than 1,400 surveys filled out by past guests to make next year’s cruise the most “chillin’” ever. The end result was incorporating a beach concert into the plan, spending two days in port and selecting a ship that will provide a more intimate environment.

“We can’t wait to see the stage rockin’ on Half Moon Cay for all of Kid Rock’s fans,” Levine said in a statement announcing the cruise. “We were presented with a challenge to make this year even better than 2010 and 2011, and with Kid Rock at the helm we have no doubt it will happen.”

The general public onsale begins July 20 but you can sign up for the pre-sale now. Visit KidRockCruise.com for more information.
