Special guests at the party include Anthony Hamilton and Mint Condition. Doug E. Fresh is hosting the event and DJ Jazzy Jeff will provide the music.
Three additional stops were recently added to the tour including Raleigh, N.C., at Time Warner Cable Music Pavilion Aug. 23; Charlotte, N.C., at Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre Aug. 24; and Dallas at Gexa Energy Pavilion Aug. 27.
Fans age 21 and over have the chance to take the stage at select cities on the tour through Budweiser’s “Opening Act” competition held on MySpace.com. To enter the contest, fans must submit acapella video performances of approved tracks. Depending on the city, submission deadlines are coming up July 14 and July 28. Prizes also include show tickets and cash.
After the Budweiser Superfest tour concludes fans can vote for their favorite local opening act on MySpace.com. The grand prize winner will take home $25,000.
Local singers aren’t the only fans who can potentially earn some cash. Budweiser brewer Anheuser-Busch is donating a total of $150,000 from its Foundation to the United Negro College Fund (UNCF). The donation will be divided up into $10,000 scholarships presented in 15 of the 17 Superfest concert cities with the scholarships awarded to local students attending a UNCF school.
Tickets for the Raleigh, Charlotte and Dallas shows go on sale Saturday. Tickets to the rest of the dates are already on sale.
