Portishead’s Long Overdue North America Tour

But it’s a short answer for a short tour, the band’s first North America outing since 1998. The two New Jersey dates that have been posted for what seems like forever mark Portishead’s involvement with All Tomorrow’s Parties’ “I’ll Be Your Mirror” event in Asbury Park Oct. 1-2 where the band will co-curate two days of the three-day festival as well as perform.

Destinations after New Jersey include New York City’s Hammerstein Ballroom Oct. 4-5; Montreal at Jacques Cartier Pier Oct. 7; Toronto’s Sound Academy Oct. 9-10; Chicago’s Aragon Ballroom Oct. 12; Mexico City at the Corona Festival Oct. 15; Los Angeles at the Shrine Auditorium Oct. 18; Berkeley, Calif., at the Greek Theatre Oct. 21; Seattle’s WaMu Theater Oct. 23; Vancouver, British Columbia, at PNE Forum Oct. 24 and Broomfield, Colo., near Denver at 1st Bank Center Oct. 27.

Although it’s been 13 years since Portishead toured North America, the band hasn’t exactly been keeping busy recording, either. Founded in 1991, Portishead released its third album, appropriately titled Third, in 2008, 11 years after its self-titled second album and 14 years after its debut album Dummy.
