R. Kelly was rushed to the hospital this week where doctors drained an abscess on one of his tonsils.

The latest episode in the life of the R&B singer started when severe throat pain caused him to seek the advice of a specialist. After a preliminary examination, Kelly was rushed to Chicago’s Northwestern Memorial Hospital where doctors performed the emergency procedure.

Kelly had just completed the U.S. leg of his “Love Letter” worldwide tour. At this time there is no word as to when he can resume performing.
