One Movement Axed
Australia’s “One Movement For Music” festival and conference was axed, two years after launching.
An initiative of Sunset Events and Chugg Entertainment, the idea was to base it in Perth, on the West Coast, and market it as a centre point for the Asia Pacific music industry.
Funding of $1.58 million came from the West Australian government’s Eventscorp.
While the conference successfully drew international speakers, its showcases seemed too skewed to emerging acts from around the region.
Poor ticket sales recorded a loss of $2 million. Earlier this year, Sunset Events and Chugg Entertainment shelved the October event until 2012, while they tried to find a more viable model.
