Georgia Center Repair Plan

Officials with the 2,500-capacity Georgia Mountains Center in Gainesville, Ga., are making plans for repairs to the city-owned venue’s mezzanine section that has been damaged in its more than 30 years of use.

Tracks used to move rows of about 800 seats around for performances have broken down, making it difficult to reconfigure seats in a timely manner, officials said. Some of the seats are also broken from patrons stepping on them and have missing arms.

Venue reps have asked the city to approve about $22,000 to cover the job.
