Comstock Events Postponed
Plans to host several music festivals in Comstock, Neb., have reportedly been scrapped until next year because of a financial setback.
Comstock Music Festivals reps had already postponed one concert set for June 2-5 to mid-August to allow more time to secure funding but that plan didn’t work out. A statement posted on the company’s website said organizers decided it was best to regroup.
“Comstock Music Festivals originally moved the event dates in August with the optimism that the funding would be in place. However, at this point in time it is a necessity for Comstock Music Festivals to postpone the festivals to next year,” says a statement on the festivals’ website. “The decision was not taken lightly and was a very difficult one for the Festivals to make.”
Ticketholders have the option to request a refund or use the tickets for next year’s concerts.
New dates for 2012 are Country Fest May 31 to June 3, Rock Fest July 12-15 and Christian Fest Aug. 2-4, according to the website.
Henry Nuxoll founded the festivals around 2000 and continued to put on events including Godstock, Comstock Rock and Comstock Windmill festivals until he ran into financial trouble in 2008. He pleaded no contest to writing bad checks to vendors and was ordered to serve four years’ probation and pay nearly $100,000 in restitution.
Bill Kann of Up The Creek Promotions has since taken over running the events.
