Having made their initial impact on U.S. audiences via their performance on “American Idol,” Il Volo’s own roots are in a competitive music program. Piero Barone, Ignazio Boschetto and Gianluca Ginoble were appearing individually on Italian TV’s “Ti Lascio Una Canzone” when the lads were chosen to sing “O Solo Mio” together. A video of Il Volo’s studio version of the tune earned the boys more than one million viewers on YouTube.

Il Volo begins its North American tour in Atlantic City at Borgata Hotel, Casino & Spa / Music Box Sept. 24. Other stops include Toronto’s Roy Thomson Hall Sept. 25; Chicago’s Chicago Theatre Sept. 28; Montreal’s Place Des Arts Sept. 30; New York’s Beacon Theatre Oct. 3; Miami at the Fillmore Miami Beach At Jackie Gleason Theater Oct. 6; Phoenix at Comerica Theatre Oct. 11; Los Angeles at the Wiltern Theatre Oct. 12; and Milwaukee at the Milwaukee Theatre Oct. 23.
