Fans will have to make their plans quickly because the new shows begin early next week with an Aug. 8 gig in Eugene, Ore., at WOW Hall. Two more Oregon performances are scheduled with an Aug. 9 show at Domino Room in Bend followed by an Aug. 10 stop at Doug Fir Lounge in Portland.

Additional new dates include Sept. 22 at Toronto’s Phoenix Concert Theatre and Sept. 24 at Boston’s Paradise Rock Club.

Previously announced festival appearances include in San Francisco (Aug. 12); in Philadelphia (Sept. 23); and in Pensacola Beach, Fla. (Oct. 15).

A post on The Shins’ website says the setlist will likely include new tunes from the band’s fourth album. Frontman James Mercer plans to finish working on the album after the tour. The as-yet-titled album will be released next year on Mercer’s Aural Apothecary label and Columbia Records. The band’s most recent album, Wincing The Night Away, was released in 2007.
