Sydney Nightclubs Team Up
Following rumblings about violence in Sydney’s red light and entertainment strip Kings Cross, nightclubs operators set their rivalry aside to tackle the problem.
The Sydney Morning Herald reported that 70 venues put in funding to set up the Kings Cross Licensing Accord Association.
“’We want to be in control of our own liquor accord,” CEO Doug Grand told the Herald.
Grand expects to install a $220,000 radio network to alert nightclubs of troublemakers. It will also lobby for more CCTV in trouble spots, and increase private patrols. Its initiatives will work independently of the police.
