Gregg Allman Cancellations

Allman’s ailment is the same upper respiratory infection that resulted in him canceling a few shows on his European tour in June. At that time his doctors thought a few days off of his feet would take care of the problem. Evidently the bug turned out to be tougher than doctors thought and now they’re ordering four to six weeks bed rest for the famed Allman Brothers Band member.

Although Allman will play South Dakota’s Sturgis Rally at the Legendary Buffalo Chip Aug. 10, canceled dates include Windsor, Conn., at SS&C Summerwind performing Arts Center Aug. 26; Hunter Mountain, N.Y., at Bluestock Aug. 27; the Lowell, Mass., Summer Music Series Aug. 30 and Cape Cod, Mass., at the Melody Tent Aug. 31.

Other cancellations include Ridgefield, Ct. (Sept. 2); Bangor, Maine (Sept. 3); Rutland, Vt. (Sept. 4); Stroudsburg, Pa. (Sept. 6); Lewiston, N.Y. (Sept. 7); Toronto, Ontario (Sept. 9); Montreal (Sept. 10); and Fredericton, N.B., at the Harvest Jazz & Blues Festival Sept. 15.

A liver-transplant recipient in 2010, Allman is a spokesman for the Tune In To Hep-C campaign and recently hosted a benefit July 27 at New York City’s Beacon Theatre, the evening before World Hepatitis Day. Joining him were The Allman Brothers Band, Natalie Cole, Phil Lesh, ZZ Top’s Billy Gibbons and Graham Nash & David Crosby. The night raised more than $250,000 for the American Liver Foundation and the National Viral Hepatitis Roundtable.
