Court Upholds Murat Renaming

The Indiana Court of Appeals Aug. 16 upheld a lower court ruling dismissing a lawsuit against Live Nation and Old National Bank over naming rights at the Murat Centre in Evansville, according to the Indianapolis Star.

The Murat Temple Association filed the lawsuit in March 2010 claiming Live Nation was banned from changing the name of a theatre inside the historic building per the terms of a lease agreement.

Marion County Superior Court Judge John Hanley disagreed and threw out the lawsuit several months later, saying LN was within its rights to enter the naming rights deal as well as rename an interior theatre.

LN operates the 2,500-capacity Murat Theatre in Old National Centre and 2,000-capacity Egyptian Room.
