Ryan Adams Goes West

In June Ryan Adams headed to Europe for his first tour in two years. This fall the singer/songwriter returns to stages in California and the Pacific Northwest for a round of solo acoustic dates.

Adams is touring in support of his new album Ashes & Fire, due out Oct. 11 on his own PAX-AM label and EMI’s Capitol. The album was produced by Glyn Johns, who has worked with The Beatles, Bob Dylan, The Clash, The Who and The Rolling Stones. Ashes & Fire features guest appearances from Norah Jones and Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers keyboardist Benmont Tench.

The European dates marked Adam’s first tour since he announced in January 2009 that his March 20, 2009 show in Atlanta would be his last with his backing band The Cardinals.

The fall tour kicks off the same day Ashes & Fire is due out with an Oct. 11 gig in San Diego at Balboa Theatre.

Additional California shows include Big Sur at Henry Miller Library (Oct. 13), San Francisco’s Herbst Theatre (Oct. 14), Napa’s Uptown Theatre Napa (Oct. 15), Santa Cruz at Rio Theatre (Oct. 15), and Sacramento’s Crest Theatre (Oct. 18).

Adams will also play Eugene, Ore., at Shedd Institute For The Arts Oct. 20. The run of dates wraps up with an Oct. 21 performance at at Seattle’s Benaroya Hall.
