Sure, you can call the band a tribute act, and truth be told, they’re okay with that. But The Australian Pink Floyd Show has been delivering the awesome as it honors the famed British band’s stage presence with hi-tech visuals coupled with extraordinary sound.

The group has even won praise from members of Pink Floyd. Drummer Nick Mason lauded them, saying TAPFS is “very good, probably better than we are.” What’s more, Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmour hired them to play his 50th birthday party.

The Australian Pink Floyd Show launches its fall journey at Denver’s Paramount Theatre Oct. 7 and wraps at Atlanta’s Fox Theatre Nov. 12. Stops along the way include Salt Lake City at Usana Amphitheatre Oct. 8; San Francisco at The Warfield Oct. 11; Southern California’s Grove Of Anaheim Oct. 14; Kansas City at the Uptown Theater Oct. 19; Rosemont, Ill., at the Rosemont Theatre Oct. 22; Ottawa at the Centrepointe Studio Theatre Oct. 25; Quebec City at the Colisee Pepsi Oct. 27; Boston’s Wang Theatre Nov. 2; New York City’s Best Buy Theater Nov. 5; and Miami Beach at the Fillmore Miami Beach at Jackie Gleason Theater Nov. 10.

This time around TAPFS will debut its new quadraphonic sound system, saying this will be the first time a live music production has employed “3D stereographic technology.” Plus, in the tradition of the band it honors, TAPFS will bring along several inflatables, including a gigantic pink kangaroo.
