Mötley Crüe Promoter Sued

A Texas-based promoter for Mötley Crüe is being sued for allegedly backing out of an agreement with an Argentine promoter who paid a $150,000 deposit toward the band’s guarantee earlier this year.

Promoter Ariel Vigo filed the lawsuit Aug. 16 in U.S. District Court of Texas accusing Gabe Reed of Gabe Reed Promotions of breach of oral contract, fraud, negligent misrepresentation and unjust enrichment.

The band is not a party to the suit.

Court papers obtained by Pollstar claim Vigo contracted with Reed to book Mötley Crüe for $300,000 and a “percentage of certain net revenues” for a show in Buenos Aires sometime between March and May. Vigo claims he sent Reed a $150,000 deposit by January 26.

However, the lawsuit claims that the next day Reed allegedly told Vigo he was still considering offers from other Argentine promoters after receiving the $150,000 deposit.

Mötley Crüe did play two shows in Argentina May 19-20 but those shows were not contracted with Vigo, the suit claims.

The lawsuit seeks the return of Vigo’s $150,000 deposit along with compensatory damages and attorney fees, court papers say.
