In addition to directing the documentary, Scorsese produced the film along with Harrison’s widow Olivia and Nigel Sinclair. Margaret Bodde was the film’s executive producer.

“George Harrison: Living In The Material World” will make its broadcast debut on HBO in two parts Oct. 5-6. The documentary will also be shown at this year’s New York Film Festival, which is scheduled Sept. 30 through Oct. 16.

The film will be released in the U.K. on Oct. 10 on DVD, Blu-ray and DVD Double play, and a DVD/ Blu-ray Deluxe Edition that includes an exclusive CD of previously unheard George Harrison tracks and a book of photography.

The documentary features interviews, performances, home movies and photographs. Interviewees include Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Eric Clapton, George Martin, Yoko Ono, Tom Petty and Phil Spector.

Scorsese’s previously music documentaries include The Band’s 1978 concert film “The Last Waltz,” 2005’s “No Direction Home: Bob Dylan” and the 2008 Rolling Stones documentary “Shine A Light.”
