Hurricane Irene Forces Westbury Changes

In order to avoid problems with Hurricane Irene, the NYCB Theatre at Westbury, N.Y., has moved Sunday’s ZZ Top concert to Monday and canceled Saturday’s show featuring Bill Medley and Paul Revere & The Raiders.

“Our first priority is the fans’ safety,” Westbury GM Adam Citron of Live Nation said in a statement regarding the ZZ Top concert. “So we have made the decision to postpone the show 24 hours.”

All tickets originally purchased for ZZ Top’s Aug. 28 appearance will be honored on the new date. Refunds for ZZ Top and Bill Medley/Paul Revere are available at points of purchase.

The rescheduled ZZ Top show is the latest change in anticipation of Hurricane Irene which is expected to hit the Carolinas first and then move up the coast, possible arriving in New England on Sunday. So far rescheduled dates include Kenny Chesney moving up his Sunday show at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, Mass., to Friday, Aug. 26; switching its Aug. 28 stop in Mansfield, Mass., at the Comcast Center to Aug. 30; and this weekend’s in Rehoboth, Mass., moving to Sept. 30 through Oct. 1.
