Static From Tommy Lee & DJ Aero

Days after wrapping up Mötley Crüe’s summer tour as the Sunset Strip Music Festival’s headliners and honorees, Tommy Lee is jumping back on the road with DJ Aero.

Lee & DJ Aero, who have toured together since 2005 and also performed together in Methods Of Mayhem, are joining Deadmau5 for a series of late summer/fall dates. An announcement about the support gigs describes Lee & Aero’s sound as “dirty, filthy, nasty electro-house.”

In a recent Q&A Lee talked about what fans can expect from the duo’s live show:

“I’m going to be triggering video and audio by playing drums on electronic pads,” he said. “We’ll also be adding a live camera so that people can see what’s going on back there.

“Our set up is amazing. To break it down for you a bit, Aero does all the mixing and I do all the video mixing and audio effects and drumming. A lot of what we do is live because I believe that watching a couple guys stand there and play CDs just isn’t that cool, so we try to bring a performance element to our live sets.”

The duo open for Deadmau5 tonight with the first of four shows scheduled Aug. 25-28 at the Hollywood Palladium in California.

Additional stops on the Meowingtons Hax tour include Morrison, Colo., at Red Rocks Amphitheatre (Aug. 30); Phoenix Convention Center (Sept. 1); Las Vegas’ The Chelsea at the Cosmopolitan (Sept. 2); Austin Music Hall in Texas (Sept. 13-14); Dallas’ Palladium Ballroom (Sept. 17-18); and House Of Blues Boston (Oct. 11-13).

The support dates conclude with an Oct. 29 show in San Francisco at Bill Graham Civic Auditorium.

Lee & Aero also have a few upcoming festival gigs including New York City’s edition of Electric Zoo (Sept. 3), Labour Of Love in Toronto (Sept. 4), and Earthtonz Music Festival in Queenstown, New Zealand (Dec. 30 through Jan. 1). The duo will also set sail on the Holy Ship! cruise, which departs from Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Jan. 6 and runs through Jan. 8.

Two new singles from Lee & Aero, titled “Static” and “LFO Tool,” are included on the Meowingtons Hax compilation put out by Deadmau5’s mau5trap label. The compilation is on sale now via Beatport.
