Florida Fraud
A Florida man pleaded guilty to one count of mail fraud in a fake concert scheme in Iowa.
Scott Elkins admitted he and others devised a plan to defraud people by promoting and selling tickets to a concert in Dubuque that wasn’t going to happen.
Elkins pleaded guilty in federal court in Cedar Rapids Aug. 30. Prosecutors say Elkins mailed a package containing flyers, tickets and money orders for the concert to a radio station in Dubuque and authorities say Elkins has run similar schemes in six other states.
He faces 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
