The Sept. 14 show in Essex Junction will mark the first time the band has played a concert in Vermont since 2004.

Although it was only a Category One level hurricane when it made landfall on the east coast Aug. 27, Irene caused plenty of trouble as it moved up the Atlantic Seaboard. The storm delivered some of the worst flooding Vermont has experienced within the past century. Even the state’s emergency management HQ had to evacuate because of rising waters.

“It’s been heartbreaking to see all the loss and destruction that came from the storm,” Phish keyboardist Page McConnell said in a statement. “Vermont is very much a part of who we are as a band. We’re really looking forward to playing this show and we hope the money raised will make a difference in the recovery and rebuilding effort.”

Tickets are $75 general admission. A ticket request period is running now through noon EDT Wednesday. Just click here.

The general public onsale begins Saturday at 10 a.m. EDT and will take place at a brick-and-mortar box office to be announced Friday. That’s right. You’re going to have to stand in line to purchase tickets for the benefit. Limit two per fan.

Phish is also offering a $250 “Friend Of WaterWheel” package including preferred parking, a reserved box seat, a limited edition poster and access to a Vermont craft beer tent.
