Yet Another Michael Jackson Tribute

Can the United Kingdom handle two tributes to Michael Jackson? Showman David Gest thinks so.

Gest, the celebrity/producer known for promoting all-star tributes, is working with members of the Jackson family to present a series of shows featuring Michael Jackson siblings Tito and Rebbie. The shows will feature stories about the late King of Pop as well as Q&As with audience members, according to London’s Guardian newspaper.

Called “A Jackson Named Michael: Remembering a Legend,” the tour will reportedly begin in March and will include Jackson family friend Deniece Williams.

“The majority of the show will be reminiscences and stories about Michael that the public has never heard,” Guest said.

Gest is also the producer of the DVD “Michael Jackson: The Life Of An Icon” scheduled to land in stores Nov. 1.

Gest’s tribute to the Moonwalker is the second major event honoring Jackson scheduled for the U.K. set for Oct. 8 in Wales at Cardiff’s Millennium Stadium has Christina Aguilera, Cee-Lo Green, Smokey Robinson, Craig David, Leona Lewis and Ne-Yo among the lineup notables.

However, not all Jackson family members are on board. MJ brothers Jermaine and Randy have criticized the event’s date, saying a tribute show should not take place during the same time period Dr. Conrad Murray is tried in Los Angeles on involuntary manslaughter charges for his role in their brother’s death. Prosecutors charge that Murray, who was Michael Jackson’s personal physician, gave the singer a lethal dose of the anesthetic propofol the day he died.

Last week Janet Jackson weighed in on the tribute, saying the timing of the concert and trial made it “too difficult” to attend the Cardiff tribute.
