MusiCares Honors Paul McCartney
Macca joins a distinguished list of artists who have been honored by the organization dedicated to helping music people when they need it most. Past MusiCares honorees include Barbra Streisand, Neil Young, Neil Diamond, Aretha Franklin and Don Henley, MusiCares first Person Of The Year was David Crosby in 1991.
“I’ve been given a great gift – a life making music – and it’s my privilege to try to make the world a better place by giving back,” McCartney said in a statement. “For more than 20 years, MusiCares has helped so many music people in times of crisis – whether with emergency financial assistance or access to addiction recovery resources – and it is an honor to be recognized as the 2012 MusicCares Person Of The Year.”
A 14-time Grammy winner, McCartney will receive the award during the organization’s annual gala coinciding with Grammy Week. Set for Feb. 10 at the Los Angeles Convention Center, the 22nd annual event includes a reception, silent auction, dinner and a star-studded tribute to the artist.
