Showco Co-Founder Hartwig Dies

Don Hartwig, 69, one of the big names of concert audio, died of heart failure Sept. 22.

Hartwig, who co-founded Showco in Dallas, helped perfect Sonar for the Navy while doing post-graduate work in the mid-’60s and helped mix Santana at Woodstock, according to Rob Titus of Sound & Lighting Systems.

Hartwig is also credited for helping launch Soundcraft in England and, after Showco, moved to Illinois to launch Heil Sound with Bob Heil.
