Reggae’s Leonard Dillon Dies

Leonard Dillon, 68, who founded pioneering reggae group The Ethiopians, died in Jamaica Sept. 28 of lung and prostate cancer.

While performing under the stage name Jack Sparrow in the ’60s, he recorded several songs that featured a young Bob Marley on backup vocals.

Later, he formed The Ethiopians and scored hits with songs including “Train To Skaville” and “Everything Crash.”

Dillon was diagnosed with cancer earlier this year and underwent surgery to remove a brain tumor, according to his daughter.
