Consisting of Sammy Hagar, Joe Satriani, Michael Anthony and drummer Kenny Aronoff, Chickenfoot is touring in support of its second album, titled Chickenfoot III. If the lineup looks a little different since the band formed in 2008 it’s because drummer Chad Smith opted to take time off to tour with the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

As to sticking the Roman numeral III on the album, the band apparently felt a Chickenfoot II was unnecessary. Hagar told Rolling Stone back in July that III is the best record he’s ever made. Considering that he’s been making records for almost 40 years, including stints fronting and Van Halen, that’s quite a statement to live up to.

The tour launches in San Francisco at the Warfield Nov. 1. Other dates are Los Angeles at The Avalon / Bardot Hollywood Nov. 2; St. Louis at The Pageant Nov. 4; Chicago’s Metro / Smart Bar Nov. 5; and New York City at Webster Hall Nov. 8.

Tickets go on sale to the general public beginning Friday. Visit Chickenfoot.us for more information.
