Island Concerts Negotiation

The board that oversees Santa Rosa Island near Pensacola, Fla., decided Sept. 28 to renegotiate a promoter’s bid to host more concerts at Gulfside Pavilion on the island’s Casino Beach.

Joe Lewis of Bonfire Jam’s current proposal reportedly would have the SRIA paying out about $800,000 for four concerts. Lewis would get $19,500 per concert, profits would be split 50/50 and the authority would absorb all losses, according to the Pensacola News Journal.

The board would like to work out a better deal for additional concerts to bring in more business to the area in the fall and spring.

Lewis previously told the board he’s confident he can bring in national acts to the venue to generate a return on the Authority’s investment.

If the parties reach a compromise, the board will discuss the matter further Oct. 12, the paper said.
