Schumer Courts Live Nation

Sen. Charles Schumer is dialing up the charm for Live Nation in efforts to get the promoter to consider booking more shows in Niagara Falls, N.Y.

Schumer, who was arguably combative during the Live Nation / Ticketmaster congressional hearings, recently wrote a letter to LN CEO Michael Rapino, according to Buffalo Business First, and requested a meeting with the organization and officials from Niagara Falls to discuss future concerts in the region.

“The Niagara Falls waterfront is a stunning and unique place to hold a concert series,” Schumer wrote. “[Live Nation] could book marquee acts that would be a magnet to attract thousands of new visitors to Niagara Falls.”

“Live Nation has been a success in cities across the country, leaving a good time and economic success everywhere it goes. Why not bring it to Niagara Falls?”

The city reportedly saw some success last summer with an outdoor concert series presented by the Hard Rock Café, which Schumer noted is “early evidence that western New Yorkers desire to be connected to the waterfront for entertainment and recreation.”

Live Nation has booked past concerts in the region at venues including the First Niagara Center, Shea’s Performing Arts Center and Darien Lake Theme Park Resort.
