Lady Gaga Joining Queen?
That is, if you can believe U.K. tabloid the Daily Express.
May talked to the newspaper on Wednesday at the BMI Awards, which was held at London’s Dorchester Hotel. Queen was honored with an Icon award.
“We talk about going out on the road all the time but there’s a bit of a singer problem to put it mildly,” May said.
Years after frontman Freddie Mercury’s death in 1991, May and drummer Roger Taylor toured with British singer/songwriter Paul Rodgers between 2005-2008.
“We get a lot of offers to work with other people,” May said. “I worked with Lady Gaga and she’s very creative and is someone we’ve talked about singing, fronting the band with. She’s not just a singer, she writes her own material.”
Lady Gaga’s fourth single from her second studio album, 2011’s Born This Way, features electric guitar by May. The tune, “Yoü and I,” also samples Queen’s hit “We Will Rock You.”
Earlier this year the pop star talked to another U.K. tabloid about how thrilled she was to work with May.
“I fell to the floor crying and laughing when I found out that I’d got him on the song,” she told The Sun. “I called myself GaGa after Queen’s track Radio GaGa.”
May told the Daily Express that Queen has also thought about doing duets with other acts or working on a TV show “where we have all these guest stars.” May added, “Lady Gaga has said she would like to do something with us.”
