Puddle Of Mudd’s Fall Journey

This time around Puddle Of Mudd is touring in support of Re:(disc)covered, an album honoring band members’ musical heroes by playing the songs that inspired them to become musicians themselves. Released a couple of months ago, Re:(disc)covered includes cover versions of Neil Young’s “Old Man,” AC/DC’s “TNT,” Steve Miller Band’s “The Joker,” Elton John’s “Rocket Man,” and James Gang’s “Funk #49.”

Of course, no self-respecting rock band could do an album filled with songs that inspired them without covering Led Zeppelin. For Re:(disc)overed the band chose “D’yer Mak’er” from Zep’s 1973 Houses Of The Holy album.

With a tour of the United Kingdom beginning next week, Puddle Of Mudd launches its U.S. road trip in Hartford, Conn., at Webster Theater Nov. 14. Other stops include Des Moines, Iowa, at People’s Court Nov. 17; Libertyville, Ill., at Austin’s Fuel Room Nov. 19; Flint, Mich., at the Machine Shop Nov. 23; Fargo, N.D., at The Hub Entertainment Destination; Missoula, Mont., at Wilma Theatre; and Cincinnati at Bogart’s.

But if you’re hankerin’ for some new Mudd, you don’t have to wait until the tour launches in November. The band will crank out its version of The Rolling Stones’ “Gimme Shelter” tomorrow night during an appearance on NBC’s “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.”
