New Tenn. Arena?
Officials in Lebanon, Tenn., announced Oct. 5 plans to build a $40 million arena and events center in the city.
Lebanon Mayor Philip Craighead said at a news conference the proposed Cumberland Center, located about 30 miles east of Nashville, would also be designed to attract a Central Hockey League team as well as retail space, according to WSMV-TV.
The Cumberland Center and its 1.5 million square feet of retail, restaurant, hotel and office space reportedly could generate sales and property taxes to fund the construction of a 6,500-capacity arena, the station said.
The project is in the early planning stages. If approved, developers reportedly hope to break ground in late October.
