Wilco Maps Out 2012 Dates

Wilco has announced its first tour plans for 2012 with another jaunt through Europe.

The Chicago-based rock band is touring in support of its eighth album, The Whole Love. The album was released in September as the first album on Wilco’s own label dBpm.

Wilco is inviting fans to send in photos inspired by the titles of the tunes on the new album to create the cover of The Whole Love’s limited edition cassette. Yep, you read that correctly – Wilco is bringing back cassettes. The band will select the top five images to be featured on the cover. The deadline for the contest, which is in collaboration with iPhone photo app Hipstamatic, is Saturday.

Two weeks from today Wilco will launch its 2011 European tour. The trek begins Oct. 24 in Glasgow, Scotland, at Glagow Royal Concert Hall, and wraps up Nov. 14 in Tilburg, Netherlands, with at show at O13. The tour includes additional United Kingdom gigs along with performances in Spain, Switzerland and Germany.

After returning to the states Wilco has several U.S. dates to do before the year ends including shows in Dallas (Nov. 29), Minneapolis (Dec. 6-7),Milwaukee (Dec. 9), Detroit (Dec. 10) and Chicago (Dec. 12).

The new European tour kicks off Feb. 26 in Oslo, Norway at Sentrum Scene. Shows are booked through a March 11 performance in Zagreb, Croatia, at Aquarius Club.

Wilco will also be making stops in Stockholm, Sweden (Feb. 27); Copenhagen, Denmark (Feb. 28) Brussels, Belgium (March 2); Paris (March 5); Zurich, Switzerland (March 7); Milan, Italy (March 8); and Bologna, Italy (March 9).

Tickets for the Brussels show go on sale Tuesday, and tickets for the Zagreb show go on sale Thursday. All other shows are on sale now.
