Curb V. McGraw Gets Hearing

A yearlong-plus battle between Tim McGraw and Curb Records hits a Nashville court Nov. 29, when a hearing begins to decide whether the country superstar may continue to record new albums while a contract dispute is resolved.

Curb sued McGraw in May, alleging the artist recorded songs for the follow-up to 2009’s Southern Voice too early. McGraw countersued one week later.

The trial to determine if there was a breach of contract, and if McGraw can be released from his Curb contract, is calendared in July 2012.

The November hearing is expected to last two days and will “first make a final determination on whether or not Curb is entitled to prevent Mr. McGraw, by injunction or otherwise, from recording for other entities other than Curb,” according to court records cited by The Tennessean.
