Chesapeake Arena Upgrades

The home of the NBA’s Oklahoma City Thunder is getting a new look along with its new name under a three-phase, $100 million renovation project in Oklahoma.

The SMG-managed Chesapeake Energy Arena’s concourse has new lighting, new floors, improved concession stands, new food and beverage options and video screens throughout the building, according to a statement.

A new grand entrance under construction will also include a three-story atrium and a family fun zone.

And with the fate of the NBA season still up in the air, Oklahoma City’s Executive Manager for Special Projects Tom Anderson told The Oklahoman that officials are planning on filling open dates with concerts and other events to offset the loss of income should the season be canceled.
