Hollywood Agent Mengers Dies
Sue Mengers, one of the most influential female agents in Hollywood, died Oct. 15 in Beverly Hills, Calif., after a long illness.
Mengers was considered one of the entertainment industry’s most powerful agents in a field dominated by men, and the Los Angeles Times characterized her as a “skilled negotiator and tough adversary.” She began as a receptionist at MCA talent agency, then as a secretary at William Morris and became VP at Creative Management Associates, which eventually became ICM where she solidified her reputation.
Her clients included Barbra Streisand, Faye Dunaway, Steve McQueen and Burt Reynolds.
She claimed to be 78 but was probably 81, according to Variety, and had recently suffered a series of small strokes.
