Jackson Tribute Goes East
Following a Michael Jackson tribute concert in Wales last month, the Jackson family announced it will stage two follow-up shows in Tokyo in December to benefit children affected by the March earthquake and tsunami.
“If Michael was alive, he would definitely have done something the help the victims of the earthquake in Japan,” Jackson’s mother Katherine said at a London press conference.
The concerts will feature Jackie, Marlon and Tito Jackson performing as The Jacksons.
Randy Jackson announced through his Twitter account that he will not participate, and it is assumed that Jermaine and Janet would not either.
The three Jacksons on board said they would perform “around 15 songs,” though right now it isn’t clear from whose repertoire the material will be taken.
The Tokyo shows will also include performances by Japanese acts that have not been specified yet, and all profits from merchandising will go to a charity that benefits children who lost their parents in the earthquake and tsunami.
