Miller Tops Americana Awards
Buddy Miller went home the big winner with two trophies from this year’s Americana Music Association Awards at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville Oct. 13.
Miller scored dual honors of artist of the year and instrumentalist of the year during the event, bringing his lifetime wins to 12.
“I love this awards show, but I think we should change the name to the Buddys,” Emmylou Harris said during the proceedings.
Other winners included Robert Plant, who took home the album of the year award for Band Of Joy and Justin Townes Earle, who picked up song of the year for “Harlem River Blues.”
New/emerging artist honors went to Mumford & Sons and duo/group of the year went to The Avett Brothers.
Lifetime achievement awards were presented to Lucinda Williams, Gregg Allman, Jerry Douglas and Rick Hall.
Performances at the show included Bob Harris and Alison Krauss, Elizabeth Cook, Hayes Carll and The Civil Wars, among others.
