NZ Streamlines Visa Entry

Starting in March, the New Zealand government will streamline the visa entry system for entertainers and actors.

Musicians arriving for fewer than 14 days for festivals and cultural events will automatically get a visitor’s visa, rather than first needing permission from the local unions.

Immigration Minister Jonathan Coleman said it was also important to make it easier for the international film industry to work in the country, as “the current rules, which have been in place for 20 years and are outdated, have put offshore investment in the NZ screen industry at risk.”

Those bringing in talent to the country for more than 14 days can apply in advance for accreditation without further referral from unions.
