Hill’s friend is astronaut commander Michael Fossum who is currently aboard the International Space Station. In April while Fossum was sitting in a Russian Soyuz space capsule waiting to blastoff, Hill sent him a new ZZ Top song – “Flying High” – from the band’s upcoming yet untitled album.

Hill recently found some time to stop at NASA Mission Control in Houston to reconnect with Fossum. Standing next to Hill is his wife Charlene, better known as “Chuck.” Both “Chuck” and “Fossum” are Texas A&M alums.

At one point Fossum comments on ZZ Top’s spinning guitar shtick and shows Hill what it would look like in zero gravity. Fossum also compared the size of the International Space Station to three ZZ Top tour buses.

Meanwhile, back here on Earth, ZZ Top’s next gig is a show with Lynyrd Skynyrd tonight in Rockford, Ill., at the BMO Harris Bank Center.
