Alkaline Trio U.K. Tour On Hold

The punk rock band has postponed this month’s United Kingdom tour because of vocalist/guitarist Matt Skiba’s recent motorcycle accident.

Alkaline Trio was scheduled to kick off the tour Sunday in Exeter at Lemon Grove. Dates were booked through a Nov. 17 show in Edinburgh at HMV Picture House. Additional stops included shows in Portsmouth, Manchester, Sheffield, Cardiff, Coventry, Leeds, Norwich and London. The band was also scheduled to play two shows in Germany – Koln Nov. 19 and Berlin Nov. 20.

Skiba has kept fans up to date about the accident and subsequent tour postponement through a series of tweets.

On Oct. 27 he wrote, “My right foot was run over by a semi truck while stopped at a light on my motorcycle yesterday. Broke my foot and ankle badly.”

After meeting with an orthopedic doctor Monday for a walking cast and “a true diagnosis,” Skiba broke the bad news to fans.

“Got a walking cast I can take on and off but I can’t actually walk on/put weight on it for several weeks. Our UK dates will be made up ASAP,” he tweeted Monday. “My sincerest apologies to all our fans in the UK and in Germany. Once I’m healed we’ll be back to play for you guys as soon as we can. Love, M.”

Next month Skiba has a few solo dates booked in California including shows in Santa Ana (Dec. 1), San Francisco (Dec. 2), San Diego (Dec. 3) and West Hollywood (Dec. 4). Alkaline Trio is set to close out the year with a New Year’s Eve show at Chicago’s Metro / Smart Bar.
