WWE Profit Drops
World Wrestling Entertainment said its third-quarter profit fell 26 percent, claiming losses related to three of its recently released movies.
WWE reported net income of $10.6 million, or 14 cents per share, for the three months ended Sept. 30, down from $14.3 million, or 19 cents per share, a year ago.
The recent quarter’s results included $5.1 million in film impairment charges related to lower-than-expected home video sales of “Inside Out,” “The Chaperone” and “Knucklehead.”
The films, produced by WWE, feature wrestlers. Excluding that charge, the company posted an adjusted profit of $14.1 million, or 19 cents per share.
The results were mostly in line with analyst expectations.
