Biographer Patsi Bale Cox Passes
Patsi Bale Cox, 66, a Nashville-based journalist who wrote autobiographies for some of the biggest names in country music, died Nov. 5 of complications from emphysema.
Among the autobiographies that owe much to her style and wit are those of Loretta Lynn, Wynonna Judd, Tanya Tucker, Pat Benatar and Georgette Jones. Cox also worked in record label public relations, including Capitol Records, burnishing the images of Johnny Cash and Garth Brooks, among others.
She used that experience in writing 2009’s “The Garth Factor: The Career Behind Country’s Big Boom,” according to The Tennessean. She was working on a biography of Kenny Rogers at the time of her death.
