Alkaline Trio Reschedules U.K. Tour

Alkaline Trio’s United Kingdom tour has been moved from November to May.

The punk rock band postponed the tour last week because vocalist/guitarist Matt Skiba recently broke both his foot and ankle in a motorcycle accident.

“My right foot was run over by a semi truck while stopped at a light on my motorcycle yesterday,” Skiba tweeted Oct. 27. “Broke my foot and ankle badly.”

Skiba met with an orthopedic doctor and was fitted for a walking cast. The singer says he was told not to walk on his foot or put weight on it for several weeks.

Thankfully Skiba was wearing his trusty Dr. Martens. On Monday he tweeted that his doctor told him the boot he was wearing (which he got when he was 15) saved his foot from permanent damage.

The tour was scheduled to begin Oct. 30 in Exeter at Lemon Grove. U.K. dates were booked through a Nov. 17 show in Edinburgh at HMV Picture House.

The rescheduled dates kick off May 1 in Portsmouth at Pyramid Centre. The Exeter show will now wrap up the U.K. run with a May 14 performance. Tickets are valid for the rescheduled dates.

The original routing included two shows in Germany – Koln Nov. 19 and Berlin Nov. 20. According to Alkaline Trio’s website, new dates for those gigs will be announced soon.

Alkaline Trio is still set to play its New Year’s Eve show in Chicago at Metro / Smart Bar.
