Moe. Keeps Going And Going

Moe. has 2011 dates all the way through Dec. 31. Within weeks the group will be back on the road again with a batch of new shows.

The jam band is taking pre-orders for its tenth studio album, What Happened To The LA LAs. John Travis (who has worked with Kid Rock, Social Distortion, and No Doubt) produced the album, which will be released on Sugar Hill Records Jan. 24. What Happened To The LA LAs marks the group’s first venture with a new label in nearly a decade as well as the first time the band has worked with an outside producer since 1998’s Tin Cans & Car Tires.

“For most of our career we’ve done everything on our own in a very cottage industry, home-y kind of way,” guitarist/vocalist Chuck Garvey said. “With most of our recordings, we’ve gotten the equipment together, we’ve paid for everything ourselves, we’ve produced it ourselves and we’ve had complete control over it. For this album we actually made the leap of putting ourselves in someone else’s hands to help us come out with something different.”

The majority of the tunes on the10-track album have been featured at moe.’s concerts over the years including “Bones of Lazarus,” which has been part of the setlist for more than 10 years and “Suck A Lemon,” which was penned for the fan-inspired psychedelic Halloween show.

Moe.’s 2012 schedule begins Jan. 27 at Seattle’s Showbox At The Market. Dates have been booked through a Feb. 18 gig in Chicago at the Riviera Theatre. More shows will be announced soon.

Next year’s tour stops include shows in Portland, Ore. (Jan. 28); Crystal Bay, Nev. (Feb. 1); San Francisco (Feb. 2-3); Los Angeles (Feb. 4); Salt Lake City (Feb. 7); Aspen, Colo. (Feb. 9); Lawrence, Kan. (Feb. 12); Minneapolis (Feb. 15); St. Louis (Feb. 16); and Nashville (Feb. 17).

On March 14-16 moe. can be found in Amsterdam, Netherlands, performing at at Melkweg.
