2012 Indiana Fair Shows Moved To Conseco
The Indiana State Fair is moving next year’s headline concerts to a downtown Indianapolis arena in the wake of August’s deadly outdoor stage collapse.
The fair commission announced Thursday that big-name concerts during the 2012 fair will take place at Conseco Fieldhouse, but smaller concerts will still be held on the fairgrounds. Fair officials are working on a shuttle service to run from the fairgrounds to Conseco, the Indiana Pacers’ home venue.
The commission hasn’t made a decision on the future of the fair’s grandstand. Seven people died and dozens were injured Aug. 13 when high winds toppled rigging from a temporary stage onto fans awaiting a concert by country duo Sugarland.
The commission says a relief fund for the collapse victims has received 55 claims and paid out $535,000.
