Eddie’s Attic Sold
Current owner Bob Ephlin announced the sale in a Facebook message Nov. 10, noting that after more than six years, he was bowing out.
“I’m extremely proud of what we’ve accomplished, and of our stewardship of a brand that for almost 20 years now has been dedicated to amplifying the magic of the artist/listener connection in an intimate listening room setting,” he wrote. “I’m confident that Alex and Dave will do a great job taking Eddie’s Attic to the next level. I believe its best days are ahead of it, and I look forward to supporting its continued success as an advisor, loyal customer, and fan of performing songwriters.”
The 180-capacity room, known for hosting early performances by John Mayer, Jennifer Nettles of Sugarland and Indigo Girls, has been on the block since last year.
At the time, Ephlin told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution he was considering a sale, but was more interested in shoring up funds from an investor to grow the joint.
“Just like any small business guy you need to reach and look for additional capital in order to grow the business,” he said. “I had exhausted my immediate contacts and enlisted the help of a professional to look for investment capital.”
Eddie’s Attic founder and former GM Eddie Owen recently scored a contract in nearby Duluth to manage and help revive the city’s Red Clay Theatre.
