Doyle Bramhall Dies
Doyle Bramhall Sr., a drummer and singer-songwriter best known for his collaborations with Stevie Ray Vaughan, died of apparent natural causes at his Texas home Nov. 13.
Bramhall, 62, was a fixture of the Austin blues scene and collaborated with top Texas musicians including Jimmie and Stevie Ray Vaughan. He worked with Stevie Ray on hits including “The House Is Rockin,” “Dirty Pool,” “Looking Out the Window” and “Life by the Drop.”
The performer also released three solo albums, his most recent 2007’s Is It News? and was still performing. He was scheduled to perform at the Granada Theatre in Dallas Nov. 26, according the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.
His son, Doyle Bramhall II, is an accomplished guitarist who played with Eric Clapton from 2004 to 2009.
