Montreal Promoter Dies In Fire

A Montreal, Quebec, hip-hop promoter was recently killed in a suspicious fire that authorities are treating as a double homicide.

Matt Dutch Garner of Escape Entertainment and another man died following an apartment fire Nov. 11, according to the Montreal Gazette.

The fire reportedly began after police were called regarding a conflict in an apartment in the city.

Authorities told the paper one man burned to death in the apartment building and another died in the hospital after escaping the blaze, and added that police received reports of several people fleeing the scene and believe the men were targeted.

“We don’t know the exact number of suspects … and we do not have descriptions for the suspects at this time,” police constable Anie Lemieux said.

An ongoing investigation will determine whether the fire was intentional, the Gazette said.
