Young The Giant’s Big 2012 Plans

Young The Giant is starting its 2012 schedule off with a Feb. 10 gig at SOMA San Diego. The newly announced North American headline tour runs through early April.

Fans still have a number of chances to catch the indie rock band before the year ends including a Nov. 30 performance in Providence, R.I., as well as two nights in Santa Ana, Calif., Dec. 16-17.

The group – which released its debut, self-titled album digitally in October 2010 and physically in the U.S. in January – will also be making the rounds at the holiday radio shows. Radio show appearances include 96X Winter Meltdown in Norfolk, Va. (Dec. 1); 97X The Next Big Thing in Tampa, Fla. (Dec. 3); 107.7 The End Deck The Hall Ball in Seattle (Dec. 7); and KROQ Almost Acoustic Christmas in Universal City, Calif. (Dec. 10).

Additional stops on the 2012 headline tour include shows in Phoenix (Feb. 16); Denver (Feb. 18); Milwaukee (Feb. 21); Chicago (Feb. 23); Detroit (Feb. 28); Boston (March 8); New York (March 9); Washington, D.C. (March 11); Dallas (March 23); Tulsa, Okla. (March 27); St. Louis (March 29); and Des Moines, Iowa (March 31).

The first round of 2012 dates wraps up April 3 at Salt Lake City’s In The Venue.    

Young The Giant will also head north of the border for shows in Toronto (March 1), Ottawa (March 2), Montreal (March 3), and Quebec City (March 4).

Walk The Moon will open for Young The Giant Feb. 10 through March 4, with the exception of Feb. 21 and Feb. 24. Grouplove will take over as support March 6 through April 3.

More dates will be announced soon.

Tickets for the 2012 headline tour go on sale to the public Saturday. A fan pre-sale begins Thursday.
