9:30’s Electronic Alliance

The 9:30 Club in Washington, D.C., has announced a booking alliance with the city’s new electronic music venue, the U Street Music Hall.

The well-known 1,200-capacity 9:30 noted that the alliance is expected to provide its 50-capacity Backbar basement club with DJs booked by U Street, which has a 500 capacity.

Likewise, 9:30 owner and promoter Seth Hurwitz and his company I.M.P. hope to elevate electronic artists to the level of headlining the 19,316-capacity Merriweather Post Pavilion, which is run by I.M.P. “Mark my words,” Hurwitz said in a statement, “there will be bands that we present at U Street Music Hall that will one day headline at Merriweather.”

The announcement comes following Live Nation’s introduction of a Fillmore to the market.
